The ancient western type of meditation
One must distinguish between two types of meditation, the eastern and the western.
But this seating position is uncomfortable for most people from the western world, unless you have been to a yoga school for a while or you are very articulate.
In the Asian area where this sitting position comes from, people are getting used to it from an early age, and they can sit comfortably in this position for hours later.
In a meditation, the most important thing is to be able to relax well, in the lotus seat this is impossible for many of us.
But there is another kind of meditation position, the western kind.
Unfortunately, it is known to only very few people. This type of meditation is only taught in some secret societies and has been denied to ordinary people for centuries, if not for millennias.
The Egyptian pharaohs and priests were trained in this kind of meditation, but it’s certainly much older.
It can be seen very well in the picture above, the pharaon is sitting on a chair, his legs parallel to each other, their hands resting on their thighs, their eyes closed.
This is the sitting position of the western meditation, a natural position for the people in the western area, very comfortable and ideal for relaxing and meditation.
The last picture above has to do with the technique of meditation, how to get into the state of absolute relaxation and the associated mental calm.
A guide to western meditation will be content of one of my next posts.
Don’t miss it!
