Koh Samet (also known as Ko Samed) has been a popular destination for foreigners as well as local tourists for decades. The beautiful white sand beaches on the east coast are now densely populated with resorts, restaurants and bars. If you’re looking for a hustle and bustle, Koh Samet is the place for you. Also water sports fans come here at their expense. The beaches and bays of Koh Samet are perfect for sailing and surfing.
Koh Samet is about seven kilometers long, up to three kilometers wide and part of the province of Rayong. The island is located in the Gulf of Thailand and six and a half kilometers from the coast. Since 1981, Koh Samet has been part of Khao Laem Ya-Mu Koh Samet National Park, with the exception of the northeastern part around the village of Baan Na Dan. As well as the neighboring islands Koh Kudi, Koh Kruai, Koh Kham and Koh Plai Tin. Upon leaving the Na Dan area, visitors to Koh Samet must pay 400 Baht (ten euros) for the Marine Park.
