Hello dear Steemians,

today I want to introduce you Elena Shumilova, maybe you know her already, one of my most favorite photographers:

Elena Shumilova is an internationally published artist, specializes in children and family imagery.
Her photos have been featured in dozens of publications around the World including Digital SLR Magazine, Practical Photography Magazine, Digital Photo Magazine, SLR Lounge, and My Modern Met. Elena’s pictures and videos have also been used by Vodafone and Petcurean advertising campaigns, book covers and selection of postcards in UK, Germany and USA.
She lives and works in countryside in Tver region, Russia, traveling around the world with the new projects and workshops. source

I think artists like Mrs. Shuminova is what Steemit need, she can be a great inspiration for the photographers we have on Steemit already.
Thanks to @stephenkendal, he gave me the idea with his last Steemit promotion posts, where he invited personally people to join Steemit, I think that’s a very good idea and better way than any mass adoption of new users, Quality matters not Quantity.
I hope many Steemians will follow this example, it’s a good possibility to get great content producers on Steemit. Hope some of them will join us soon.
My personal invitation to Elena Shuminova

Hello, my name is “Natch”

nice to meet you here.
In this new Steemit world, I know Steemit from Tom @zanoni ,
I hope I can earn a little money here because I like to take pictures in places where I see something pretty eye-catching. Tom explained.
I’m open to new ideas by saying that the communication to know good friendship does not come from alone. We sent our feelings through the pictures we have taken so many times, the pictures we took in various places. We want to keep our memories.
Not to forget telling a little about myself:
I live in Pathumthani, Thailand and have three older brothers and sisters. I live with my mother and it will soon be a new member in the family to create a warm family.
And we are ready to go to the big family, to our Steemit family.

Thank you very much Steemit!

Handling regrets after bad decisions and mistakes. — Steemit

Source: Handling regrets after bad decisions and mistakes. — Steemit

Hello guys…
It’s your potential blogger.

images (2).jpeg
Regret is something that we all have had to face at one point or the other in our lives. Sometimes we remember something we did or we didn’t do and we instantly feel that painful emotional discomfort that leads even the best of us to tears or possible depression.
Today am going to be giving some tips on how you can handle regret after a mistake has been made. For the purpose of this write up I am going to be giving personal examples.
For most of us, we quantify regret as a function of what the impact of our mistakes had on our lives. Although this is not such a bad rationale for quantifying regret it is an avenue towards depression. We need to understand how to deal with regret. In these few easy steps I shall gives some tips on how to handle the after effect of a mistake.

The first thing you need to do to avoid a spiral down the valley of regret and possibly depression is to understand that mistakes happen regardless of whose fault it is. You must keep in mind that what ever thing you had done has happened before to some other random person and getting through it should be your focus. A few years ago I personally made a huge mistake that has shifted the balance in my academics. When choosing a field of study to major in I left my true flare to choose something more prospective. I did regret it for a while but then I looked at the statistics of people in the same situation with me and discovered they where many…so I thought to myself “if they can get through it then so can I”.

One very important thing to do when a mistake happens is to simply walk it off. As hard as it is to just simply get up and pretend the fall never happened it is very necessary. You need to understand that a there’s nothing you can do to change the past so rather than let it define you, walk it off and strife never to repeat it.

For most of us, the thought of the effect of our mistakes on our lives and on the people around us cancels out the possibility of corrections. We get too engrossed in our self pity and regret that we forget that some mistakes can be corrected. So rather than thinking about the negative effect of our mistakes, think of how to correct them.

in many countries, the constitution makes provision for immunity for some members of the executive arm, judicial and also members of parliament. This is because it is assumed that they can’t be held responsible for events that played out during their administration simply because whatever decision they made giving the circumstances they faced was logical. This simply implied that their decisions was a function of what they thought was best for the country as at that point in time. This same principle also applies to our decisions. Even though we made bad decisions that were ultimately mistakes, we need to understand that as at that point in time we were only trying to make the best choice but it turned out to be a mistake. It is best you regard such happening as not being your fault. Just make sure you strife to make better long term decisions.

Take your mistakes as experiences. Once you have a bad experience, the last thing you’ll want is for it to happen again. Take your experiences and put them as a guide to help you become a better person but do not let them define you. For example don’t say you wouldn’t drink tea because you got your tongue burnt the last time you drank it; instead learn to cool it to a lower temperature before drinking.

With these few points I do hope you have gotten an insight into overcoming your regrets.

Latest Patch For https://steemgigs.org & “steemgigs” Witness Update. — Steemit

Source: Latest Patch For https://steemgigs.org & “steemgigs” Witness Update. — Steemit

For weeks now, we have been trying to figure out why posting on SteemGigs, have many times failed to publish to the steem blockchain but there is some good new….. “we have finally found out the root cause and we are about to implement a solution”.

This took weeks to find out even though, the solution ended up being very simple.

We rely on feedback from users and analytics based on their use to our UI, to ascertain where enhancement is needed as well as to determine the root cause of errors (issues) and possible fixes. This time though, anytime we got feedback related to “inability to post successfully”, we would to try these editors from our end and coincidentally, our attempts to post to steem happen successfully

This led us into looking for deeper solutions than was required.

But the community came to our aid and after series of chats, discussion and tests by our members of our growing SteemGigs development team, we were able to ascertain the cause of “failed posts” and proffer solution.

Note that, we have increased our developer-base to include more teams and this will help us drastically in completing the UI of SteemGigs and attain resolutions faster and more efficiently.

If you are a developer/coder and you have some interest in the SteemGigs organization, consider joining us on our Slack server.

The cause of failed posts

Before now, images where directly uploaded from the PC (files) etc without any form of compression. Thus, many of posts that have failed to publish on steem, from https://steemgigs.org have contained large images, constituting eventual post-sizes, bigger than the block-size allowed by the steem blockchain.

e.g if a blocksize on steem is 256 KB, a SteemGigs post (especially those with large images) with an eventual size of 300 KB, would fail to publish to steem.

Ultimately, since text or characters don’t constitute much in terms of size, whenever we had tried to test for  “errors” with a post containing only text/characters, it was very likely to publish successfully.

Coincidentally too, we would try posts with small-sized images and these would pull through too. What this simply means is: “we needed to compress images” or apply the same method “steemit” uses with their editor, where images are hosted externally, returning only “a simple image URL” which is embedded into posts.

This enhancement is now being worked on and will be available on https://steemgigs.org really soon and this is such huge relief for us and great news for SteemGigs users.

We want SteemGigs to be reliable for users and convenient to use!

While the patch hasn’t been fully implemented yet, we created a “temporary solution” that currently allows you to post successfully to steem, by simply paste the URL for your “image location” directly into the body of your SteemGigs post

e.g if you use IMGUR as host for your image, simple visit https://imgur.com, upload your image on there straight from your PC files and when the image has uploaded, right click on the image and copy the “image location URL”, usually ending in “.jpg or .png” and paste it into the body of your post on https://steemgigs.org and you will now notice that the image loads up during “post preview” and your post will now publish successfully.

Look at the screenshot below, assuming you want to try out our “untalented editor” in creating your next enviable steemit post:

For now, anytime a post refuses to publish, simply remove the image if it was directly uploaded and insert an image location URL instead and the post will publish successfully.

Don’t worry, this is temporary because in a few days, when we eventually implement an auto-image compression algorithm, you will be able to directly upload images from your PC files, without needing to visit IMGUR etc, which will be more convenient.

Another good news is:

We have now implemented GIF capability on https://steemgigs.org.

Yes, it is now possible to insert GIF(s) into the body your posts, using any of the editors on https://steemgigs.org, having these GIF(s) appear in your eventual posts both on SteemGigs and Steemit etc.

Even on steemit, for GIF(s) to appear successfully in your posts, you will have paste the URL of your GIF directly into the body of your post as text and the same applies with any of the SteemGigs editors.

See screenshot:

Witness Update:

Note: anytime we talk of the “steemgigs” witness having an update etc, it has nothing to do with https://steemgigs.org

The steemgigs witness is simply one of the many servers ran, to maintain the steem blockchain.

The “steemgigs” witness have missed several blocks in the past few hours and this is an issue from @privex, the hosting provider that we use.

@privex is handled by a reputable steemian and is very popular here on steemit and among steemit witnesses.

Unlike them, we weren’t informed this time of any impending downtime etc. Basically, we aren’t able to access the witness server currently inorder to disable it temporarily, incase it needs some fixes but we have sent several emails to @privex with dire hopes that they tend to us ASAP.

It may just require some tweaks or a reboot from their end for the witness to be back up and running as they don’t offer a UI portal that we can manage, this tweak is likely going to happen from their end.

If you support the “steemgigs” witness, please consider sticking with us as we will work hard to reduce the frequency of occasions like this.

We recently migrated to a 64GB RAM VPS to sustain the steem growth requirement and as soon as necessary, we will not hesitate to increase RAM or server capability, to sustain more growth. However, this current downtime is one where we have to wait on @privex to fix.

Thank you alot for all the support and patience at times, when the going is challenging.

If you are coder or developer, kindly look the code for SteemGigs on Github. It is open-source, both front-end and back-end. We writing updating the Github constantly with a list of tickets and we need many hands as we want SteemGigs to be built by “everyone”.

This is a screenshot of how the repo looks:

We are seeking coders/developers to help, by means of utopian or  direct contributions. I would like to invite all coders/developers, to  show up on our SteemGigs development channel.

The story of an innocent — Steemit

Source: The story of an innocent — Steemit

Hi steemians!

I am going to tell you a story that inspired by a real news I heard few years back, hope you like it….

SOURCEOn that Sunday Retired Police Inspector RAGHUNATH SHARMA was relaxing at his home and watching TV news there we a flash news says “Karthik, a murderer and mentally challenged, escaped from the mental hospital last night”

Inspector shocked and eager to know more details about the news, at the same time the doorbell sounded, he called his wife and asked to open the door.

At home, he and his wife were living alone, his only son was married and settled abroad.

His wife came out of the inner room and opened the door, a 30-year-old young man with a shaved head was standing outside, she mysteriously looked at him for awhile and asked
“Yes, whom you wanna meet?”

“Is there Raghunath sir here?

“Yes, please come in, ” she invited him and opened the door completely, went to his husband and said:

“Dear someone wants to meet you and waiting for you at the couch”

Raghunath raised his eyebrows and slowly walked out of the hall, he looked at him for a while, and he did not seem to be familiar in any way.

“Yes may I help you?”

“I’m not asking you for help, I have come to remind you of an incident” he smiled.

Incident? What’s that?

“Few years back, when a night patrol, a young man is arrested, because he said he came from the late night movie show but he did not have any evidence.”

“Oh, I see, then? ”

SOURCE“They locked him in the lock-up room of the police station for inquiry, at the same time a man also locked in the same room under a crime of rape case, he was the son of ruling party minister.

“Oh! They are worse because of their power”

“Next day morning, a phone call from the minister that ordered the inspector to release the aquest son, the police inspector also released him without any other way, but because the case file was filed, the case was put on this innocent young man”

“Oh god! That’s very bad”

SOURCE“And the police didn’t want him to tell the truth in the court, saying that he was physico-mental and admitted him into Prison Hospital.”

“Oh shit!” the retired inspector was sympathetic.

“The innocent young man was suffering in the hospital, survived for his life, he took heavy dosed medicines unnecessarily for 5 years, Otherwise he was persecuted for it” he cried after telling the horrible story.

“Please calm down, don’t cry, what can I do for you” the inspector asked.

“Should not those police officers be punished?”

“Yes, where are they, do you know them?”

“Yeah, ” he suddenly removed a long kitchen knife and said “you are the police and I am the survivor Karthik, in this morning only I escaped from the hospital”

Then he took the knife and pierced his chest, Inspector screamed, he removed the knife and r scratched the neck again and again till he calmed down.

SOURCEThe inspector died miserably, his wife rushed out of her room asked what happened

He told her that she had lost her sins and went away.

Why is Bitcoin jumping so high today? On Kraken, it jumped as high as $8500 from about $6950. Perhaps some big money came in. Truthfully, we don’t know for certain. The good news is that all of the cryptos followed along and made a nice push upwards. Just about a week ago, we mentioned that these cryptos were undervalued, underpriced, and oversold.

Steem (STEEM)$3.17 USD (59.55%) up
Stellar (XLM)$0.242095 USD (15.62%) up
Neo (NEO) $66.90 USD (13.11%) up
Wanchain (WAN)$5.91 USD (34.03%) up

Now, all of these are up 10-40%. You can sell a portion, or ride it out. The market cap went above $300 billion again as well. We don’t know if we are headed back to all time highs, but we do think things will go slightly bullish for a bit with the recent good news and increase in market cap. If you are up you, may consider selling a portion (25-30%) so that you can have some liquidity to get other cryptos. If you don’t want to deal with that, then, you can ride it out. Keep in mind that we are still down quite a bit.
Lets hope for the best and rally towards 800 billion market even 1 trillion Lambo for everyone to take it to Moon.

And before the Lord God are pure

We do not need to be sorry
We are in front of our conscience
And before the Lord God are pure

We do not believe lies
To betray for a long time we are not able
We go through silence
And the bridges are aflame for us
Through silence of relatives
Bullying, evil and contempt
We are free people
And we are hated by slaves
We bring them hope
We know, there will be an epiphany

And they will stand side by side
But while they are too weak
This is our destiny
We choose it ourselves

Telling people the truth
And go no matter what
And sometimes despair compresses his throat
But if you can not, if not, then who are you?

Let the living remember
How we buried our dead
As it was difficult for us
as his wife sobbed sobs

We do not need to be sorry
We could have long ago retreated
when, if not for debt
but shame before our dead

Okay, and I also think that the financial apocalypse is inevitable
We can do a lot

A conversation with the creator of School of Minnows – What it is and why you need to sign up – Busy

Source: A conversation with the creator of School of Minnows – What it is and why you need to sign up – Busy

I’ve just had a very interesting conversation with @lanmower over on the #steempunks Dischord channel regarding School of Minnows. I had received an invitation to join a while ago and I somehow only managed to set up my mom’s account @grethaventer, with the service.
This morning I was doing some admin on her account, trying to set it up so she can still earn even though she’s not able to post articles regularly. While looking at steemd it seemed that strange things had been happening with upvotes and I jumped on Dischord to find out what’s going on.

Lanmower was very helpful and convinced me to sign up both myself and @moderndragon.

In short, School of Minnows is a service that uses your idle voting power to upvote members and it builds a credit for you on the upvote pool. So when you get back from your holiday or after being away for a while, you get your saved up voting power back as an upvote from school of minnows when you post. They only ever use your vote when your voting power is at 100%, so you don’t lose your voting strength and they don’t take you down to dust votes like a voting bot would.

If you want to skip to the signup link, scroll to the bottom 🙂

What follows is our conversation. Take some time to read though, there is a lot of very useful information here. After sorting out the strange upvote activity ( it had been a bug that had been fixed) he took some time to explain the system in more detail to me.
-My Dischord name is Moderndragon –

  • ModernDragon : ” Just to make sure I understand it correctly, if someone signs up, their voting power is used ( only at 100%) to upvote other posts in the minnowschool network. But only if the user posts do they get a payout?
So it’s not the same as being part of a voting bot?”
  • lanmower :”Yeah its totally different than voting bots and trails
Its about remembering your contribution and then giving you the ‘best possible effort’ to refund that when you come back, so if you just make a bunch of posts if the payments are behind, you clear the credit.
I call it proof-of-altruism, the system works 24/7 to make sure you’re not altruistic, that you’re safely capitalistic if at all possible.
At the moment we should be able to clear 50c a post.
This way you can earn your idle voting power back, so if you take a holiday you come back and get refunded and there’s no need to delegate to a voting service for cash refunds. It can all happen organically by supporting writers directly, that’s why we’re treating the group as user curation.
Please, if you know of a way to make it more fair or more profitable for members let me know, we’re currently on 80 members, when we’re on 800 it will be more profitable
30c for every posting member is not bad in a week and a half (plus their refunds)
Remember too, every vote you don’t pay for is real profit so that 30c profit is the same as getting a 10$ vote from a service in profit.”
  • ModernDragon : “If your vote doesn’t ever load to 100%, do you still get support from minnowschool?”
  • lanmower : “Yes. You’ll get refunded for any manual votes, and your profit will grow with the rest of the posters, so everyone is 30c in profit, if you didn’t vote at all you’ll get voted till you show 30c profit too
It will always look for the post from the person with the most altruism who you haven’t voted for yet, and select further down the line if you’ve voted that post already, so everybody gets votes, and they get distributed evenly per user not per post, post more you still get the same votes.
We introduced the math because we had two members posting hourly, which is fine in my books but they should get the same group votes as those posting daily or less.
We only track English posts since we can’t read the other languages.”
Please, don’t let idle voting power go to waste, allow it to mean something for you and tell your friends.
I really really believe in this system and I will do anything I can to portray its honesty to you its important to me that people know how it works.”

I then went on to ask him about helping me set up my and moderndragon’s accounts. The workaround for signing up multiple accounts from the same browser is to open the link in an incognito tab.
I successfully added both accounts and then he continued and then I asked about getting other people to sign up:

  • ModernDragon :”Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me. Is this an SA only group?”
  • lanmower :
“Not at all, but we’re trying to get every last SA person on hahaha, we’re maybe 20-25% SA because that way people will comment more on other peoples posts.”
  • ModernDragon :
“So would you want people to share the signup link around? or rather invite people personally?”
  • lanmower : “Please share, we have auto notifications for cheetah and steemcleaners and I keep an eye to catch the bad fish
Its not a secret any more. I’ve also open sourced the voting code and shared it for disclosure”
  • ModernDragon : “cool beans. I’ll try to add it to the end of my posts. Is that ok?”
  • lanmower :
“Cool. If you use steempunks schoolofminnows or freedomfirst as a first tag, you’ll appear on the #freedom-first channel on the discord, I’ll vote you :)”
  • ModernDragon :
“Great! any final shout outs and links?”
  • lanmower:
“yes totally @thetravelingsa, who’s been the strongest and friendliest partner I could wish for in this effort.
it seems he catches every conversation I miss on discord.”
  • ModernDragon:
“Sweet man. Thanks so much for your time. It’s been great chatting. I will put all this together and lets see if we can get more people following :)”
  • lanmower:
    “awesome, you are member 95.”

So folks, I hope that cleared up some questions you might have about @schoolofminnows. If you’d like to join school of minnows, click here
